Fossil Hunting

Beachside
Fossil Hunting on the famous Jurassic Coast where Mary Anning 1799-1847), discovered the first complete ichthyosaur to be found in England. Head across to Lyme Regis and explore the fossil ridden beach that heads towards Charmouth.

The Beer Beach is protected by towering cliffs each side and provide a haven for beachgoers and fishermen alike, with small cafes set up along the front, head on down and watch the waves splash against the rocks in Winter or soak up some sunny rays in the warmer months.

South West Coastal Path

Coastal
If you fancy an adventure, Beer is located perfectly on the south west coastal path, with some epic coastal routes available. Either head towards Branscombe where you’ll find some amazing Jurassic cliff faces, you may even spot a peregrine falcon which thrive along this ridgeline. Or head towards Seaton, with elevated chalk cliff views you’ll pass Beer Head and once you hit Seaton there is an option bus route back to Beer.

Beer is a historically a fishing village and there are still plenty of fisherman that practice this trade within the village. There’s plenty of opportunity to book onto fishing trips, if you head down to the beach you’ll find all contact details of all of the available boats during each season.

An incredibly unique experience, the Beer Quarry Caves are a vast man-made complex of underground caverns, offers you a look back into Beer’s mining past. With towering pillars of Beer Stone and arched ceilings you’ll explore each nook and cranny on their fully guided tours.

A Short 22min Drive

The Mound
Rubicon Kitchen is the place to go for the freshest seafood in the bay, this spot gets nothing but rave reviews for its creativity! We highly recommend the bouillabaisse or the fish tacos, although it’s the perfect place to try something new too. So head on over, grab a picnic table and have a seafood feast in the salty coastal air!

With an Italian background but drawing inspiration from the local coastal produce around West Bay, The Watch House offers the best of both worlds. Rise

Riverside
Located along the picturesque waterfront Rise is a popular spot for locals and visitors alike, relax fireside in winter or head on out to the open terrace for refreshing drinks in the warmer seasons. The menu has an excellent variety of dishes and it’s known for it’s generous portion sizes.

The Old Railway Station
For a unique experience head on over to Platform, a charming station house and WW1 train carriage refurbished into a eatery and cocktail bar! The atmosphere is top notch and the emphasise on fresh & local produce will make this a memorable dinner on any coastal getaway!

Seagulls Restaurant is a wonderful independent business open for lunches and evening meals with something to suit everyone, a great spot for family outings. End a lovely meal with one of their homemade desserts - they’re known for their bread & butter pudding!
